Furthermore, it reduces the formation of greenhouse gases, absorbs five times more CO2 than an equivalent stand of trees and produces 35% more oxygen. It can grow in very hard conditions without any need of pesticides and herbicides. Bamboo roots stabilize the soil and inhibit erosion.
The cross-section of the bamboo fiber is filled with various micro-gaps and micro-holes, ensuring much better moisture absorption and ventilation than other fibers. This means that the bamboo is 2-3 degrees cooler in warm weather and also very warm in cold weather.

WHERE DOES BAMBOO YARN COME FROM?

HOW IS BAMBOO YARN MADE?
Bamboo yarn is created very similar like paper is made from all kind of trees through a distillation and bleaching process. The wood and leaves of the bamboo tree are harvested and grounded into small parts. These parts are then steeped in a mixture of water and chemicals until they become soft, and then shredded apart until the individual fibers of the bamboo are released and form a pulp. This pulp will first be processed, later it can be easy manipulated and bonded again into many different shapes. The pulp is run through several filters that take away unwanted contaminants and unnecessary particles and then put through a bleaching process that turns the pulp white. Once the pulp is whitened, it can be dyed with a variety of different colours, bonded again into long fibers and wound into yarn.
WHAT ARE THE SPECIAL QUALITIES OF BAMBOO YARN?
As a fabric, bamboo, becomes soft and flowing, with a tendency to take on colour well and has a strong water permeability. This means that garments (and towels) made from bamboo yarn can easily absorb liquid, and are both breathable and sweat-resistant. Bamboo yarn can also be used to make mats (yoga), stockings, bed clothes and of course socks and underwear.
